Windows 10: Need to downgrade Windows 10 to 8.1 on machine with it pre installed

Hi, can anyone help please?


I have been given a laptop with Windows 10 preinstalled but my work software is not compatible with it. I cannot afford to upgrade the software just yet.


I thought the easiest workaround would be to uninstall windows 10 and buy windows 8.1


So far I am downloading 8.1 onto machine


I am not techy in the slightest. Will this work? All the tutorials talk about "going back" to an earlier version but in my case it has always had 10 on the machine.


Can anyone talk me through what I need to do and recommend best place to buy an activation key please?

Downgrading to pre-installed windows 8 from windows 10 in Asus X200M

It's been more than a month of using windows 10. But it seems like my hardware is not up to the mark for windows 10. So, I need help about downgrading to windows 8 which came along with the pc, as a pre installed windows. So, basically I don't have any
product key information. Windows 8 was pre activated in my PC. So, re installing windows 8, and activating is not an option for me. Please guide me regarding this issue. Thanking you.

As per your query, I am led to believe that you want to downgrade to the pre installed OS. To do so I would suggest that you follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Start Menu and the select Settings.

2. Click on Recovery and then click on Reset PC.

3. Once there select Restore to Factory Settings.

Note: Create backup of all the personal files before proceeding to Reset.
