Need to install USB drives from device manager manually for each phone

    Hi,
    I bought a new SSD.
I clean installed the latest build of Windows 10 on it, 2 weeks ago.

But for some reason, everytime I plug in a Android phone in MTP mode, the phone's storage doesn't get detected.
I have to manually do this for each phone I connect.
I need to go to device manager, choose manually update drivers from the list of available drivers and choose Mobile Devices → MTP USB devices.

The phone for which I do this process will get detected, until I restart my PC. Then I will have to once again manually do this process for each phone.

Please help, this is becoming quite annoying now.

    :)

    windows 10 internet connection

Hi Jeff, do you mean you clean installed Windows 10 from a USB flash drive?

If so, then you need to install some Drivers for your devices and Internet to function correctly . . .

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Are there a number of devices with a yellow triangle and an Exclamation mark?

If so these devices need their drivers updated

Right click each device and choose Update Driver

If Windows cannot automatically find the appropriate Driver, do you have a driver disc for your PC?

  3. external HDD cannot be initialized due to i/o error in Disk Management

    Hello Jeob,

There are many possible reasons why you get that error. It could be due to unstable or corrupt USB driver or your computer requires updates for issues that may conflict with a USB flash drive and Windows. Having said that, you can check the USB flash drive
on the different computer to make sure that the issue is not with the device.

You can also follow the methods below and see if it makes any difference:

Method 1: Uninstall and then reconnect the USB flash drive:

This method resolves issues where the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupt.

    1. Go to search, type Device Manager in the search box

    2. Click Device Manager from the returned list.

    3. Click Disk Drives from the list of hardware

    4. Right-click the USB flash drive with the issue and click Uninstall.

    5. After the flash drive is uninstalled, unplug it.

    6. Wait for 1 minute and then reconnect the USB flash drive. The driver should automatically load.

    7. Check for the USB drive in Windows Explorer

    Method 2: Reinstall USB controllers.

This method resolves steps where the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupted.

    1. Click Start, then type device manager in the Search box, then click Device Manager.

    2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click a device and click Uninstall. Repeat for each device.

    3. Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install.

Feel free to post back should you need further help.
