Windows 10: Need to recover family info from a Dell laptop using windows 7 but last user has forgotten...

Laptop was last used 6/7 years ago - very probably more than that.. First Windows 7 screen shows my daughter as account holder but she has changed her Microsoft account password many times since then. Microsoft support sends you round in circles and evades the question. Have tried at least one bespoke app but at least one stumbling block is the recommendation involving creating a password reset disk. There's about 5 sets of instructions on line but none match the Windows screens 10 I think I'm supposed to use. So, grateful for any real world advice people can offer - thanks in anticipat
