    Need to set up a new passkey twice for some reason


    For some reason, when I try to create a new Passkey for my Microsoft account, I need to do this twice per device for that device's passkey to appear in my Microsoft account. The first time my device and the Microsoft webpage all say that it worked, but the passkey isn't added to the account sign-in options My Microsoft account -> Security -> Manage how I sign in . So I add the passkey for the second time with the same device, and this time, in addition to the above, I get a notification on Microsoft Authenticator that a passkey was added, and also an e-mail alert.   2. Previous PC died, got a new one...now my passkeys won't work.

    My PC died, had to junk it it was old. Bought a new one. Now, all my previous passkeys wont work and do not show up in the passkeys listed in settings. How do I fix this? Is there a way to delete the old passkeys even if I dont have access to the old PC?

    I understand your frustration, and I'm here to help. You mentioned you're using Windows 11 24H2, are you using the Insider build or the new Copilot+ PC device?

    This information will help me suggest possible steps without needing to perform a clean installation of Windows 11.

    In the meantime about restoring Passkeys. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to restore missing passkeys from Settings, and there's no current option to back them up or restore them. You can visit sites like Google or Adobe again, and they should prompt you to create a new passkey if it’s missing from your Windows Settings app.

    Since you can't access the Passkeys section in the Settings app and running SFC and DISM didn’t help, you might consider performing an InPlace Upgrade or Repair Upgrade depending on your current build. Please let me know the answer to my question above so I can guide you further.
