Windows 10: Need to use drag and drop feature in address bar

I need the drag and drop feature in address bar. If you search your own website, you will learn many need this feature too and no one seems happy with this change. How is this change even remotely helpful for anyone? It kills productivity and makes folder management even harder. Re-instate drag and drop.

can't drag and drop files into address anymore with Windows 11

Why has Microsoft removed this very useful feature? Now, instead of just dragging files up to the address bar and dropping them in the folder I'd like, I've got to COPY, go to the folder, PASTE the files, and then go back to the folder where I was working. In the past, I could just drag and drop and move on. You've added multiple steps to something that used to take seconds. Does anyone know of a fix for this? It's driving me crazy.

 

No Windows 10 drag and drop feature to email from task bar

One of the most convenient features of Windows 8.1 was the drag and drop feature directly from the task bar. For instance, I could right-click the Microsoft Word icon, or any office software, pinned to my task bar, and could select from any recent file.
I could then click on the file name and drag the file directly from the recent file list into my gmail. This was very convenient way to add an attachment because I didn't have to open the file explorer, then search for my file, then drag and drop it from the
saved location or folder.

Unfortunately I cannot do the same thing after I upgraded to Windows 10 software. Is there some way to troubleshoot this? Or will this not be a feature of this current version?

Hi Charles,

the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.
