Windows 10: Need W10 Pro activation info from dead computer

Old Toshiba laptop running W10 Pro died.
Bought a cheap replacement for it .. out of the box W10 S HOME.

I can upgrade it from Windows Store to W10 PRO (If I read it right) with either a 'product key' or $99.

I have a license for Pro sitting on a Toshiba which I MIGHT be able to boot up, but not sure that would help because it was an OEM W7 Pro upgraded to W10 Pro and I read the key is not shown on it anyway,

Any clear suggestions on what I can do short of spending $99??? Thank you in advance for your time.

Windows 10 Home upgrade to W10 Pro with a product key fails

Hi Kapil

Your recommendation appears to be for a Windows that is not activated.

My W10 Home is activated ok and I want to upgrade to W10 Pro using the Product Key from my old dead laptop that was running W10 Pro.

Trying to input what I know to be a valid W10 Pro Product Key results in the error stated in the original post.

Any further recommendations please?

Question:

right now I made a bootable USB for W10, off my current installation which is a W10 Home.

Monday I'll use that on my new rig but I want to move to W10 Pro on that one. Is this possible with my bootable USB setup? My guess is that you just re-pick your version based on the activation code, amirite?

I am a long time W10 Insider.

I had a Gateway NV79 running W10 Pro and it bellied up with on board battery issues and is non functional.

I want to move that Pro License to another W10 machine running home.

What are the steps/
