Windows 10: Needed to open administration acct. All good so far but admin acct is empty of most of my...

New Win 11 PC got my family acct all set up with software and settings. I had need for several settings that could only be accessed with administrative acct. This worked, but to my surprise admin acct was empty except primary tools like browser. I would like for both accts be alike and to synchronize. Is this possible.

Well I was not aware of that. I do not recall when I was reading about standard and admin accts any of the articles making note of it not being essential with win 10 only that you should only work out of the standard account.

OK. If I can not "transfer" or copy over everything form my current admin acct to a local standard acct is there anyway to duplicate my current admin acct the one that I have now and like the way it is set up that way I would have two identical admin accts (I have no problem giving it another name) and I could then just make one of them standard. That would give me a standard AND an admin acct setup the way that I wanted. If not I will take your suggestion and run with it since the whole idea is that I will be booting up the local or standard acct (once the admin acct) and not the "other" unaltered admin acct. Thanks.

EDIT: It occurred to me since my admin acct is my MS account in other words it is tied to Microsoft when I log in and it is the acct that I can use to sign into the MS website what will happen if anything if I now change it to just a standard local account? TIA.

 

Non Admin acct questions

I think you may just be looking in the wrong place. When you sign out the sign in screen and password box will be for the account that has just signed out. It's the same for a restart, the sign in screen will be for the last user that had signed in.

Sign out, then look for a list of names in the lower left corner of the sign in screen. All available accounts should be listed there, click on the one you want to change the sign in screen to be for that user. See the screenshot at step 2 in this tutorial.

Correct, the user folder is not created until the first sign in.

 

Admin acct

I am admin. I read that I should also have a standard user acct for everyday work. How do I set that up? Then how will I know which acct I'm in?
