  1. Needing to enable wifi manually after boot unlike before

Hello there recently I have been facing a issue where after windows booting or after restart the wifi is turned off and no I'm not talking about auto connecting to a network or connect automatically option for network I'm talking about the wifi recently I have to manually turn on the wifi for it to connect to a network as it is off and it didn't happen before and it would stay on after boot and auto connect to network but now I have to turn it on for it to auto connect to network for better understanding I'm giving a picture of what I mean:As you can see from the picture the wifi is off and I

  2. Compaq CQ-56 laptop...WiFi needs to be manually enabled on boot?

    Hi all,

I've got an old Compaq CQ-56 laptop a friend of the family gave me that I just installed Win10 on to use out in my garage where it doesn't matter if it gets some bumps and scrapes and dirt on it. Needing to enable wifi manually after boot unlike before :)

Not a great machine with a single-core AMD V140, but it's surprisingly usable for the normal stuff like web browsing, listening to music, watching Youtube, etc as I work.

My issue is this - on boot, no matter what I do, the WiFi is disabled once Win10 starts. I have to manually use the Fn+F12 keys to disable and then re-enable WiFi every time I start the computer to get the WiFi working again. It works fine after that, but it's quite a bit annoying. Fn+F12 once to disable and then once to enable seems to be the only way I can get it to reconnect properly again. Turning WiFi on and off by clicking the 'WiFi' icon then clicking the 'WiFi button' seems to do nothing. Clicking the 'WiFi' icon after boot just gives me the standard old:

    ''Wireless Network Connection: Turned Off

    Turn Wi-Fi back on:
    Manually"

Again, the only way I can get it working is to disable/re-enable with the Fn+F12 keys....anybody have any ideas how to get this working normally again? It was a Win7 laptop originally (it had Win7 on it when it was given to me I upgraded it) and the WiFi worked properly on that, but not with Win10? I've tried upgrading the BIOS, but it's already up to date. I've tried updating the drivers but the same problem persists.

Thoughts would be appreciated! Needing to enable wifi manually after boot unlike before :)

  3. ram93 Win User
    laptop doesnt boot automatically

    This is what happened.

    1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
    2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
    3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
    4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
    5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
    6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

Many thanks to all members who helped to troubleshoot problems.

  4. Needing to enable wifi manually after boot unlike before

    Graphics card interfering with boot

I see the part where it allows the selection of a legacy VGA BIOS. Unfortunately, the option is only unhidden if I enable Fast Boot, which I have had disabled all this time.

It doesn't make a difference to turn on Fast Boot and change VGA BIOS to legacy.
