How do I hide certain devices from Windows 10 Wifi-Direct? I want to hide my neighbors 3 Samsung TV, 2 Roku devices, and Firestick. I can do it in PowerShell or the registry if I know what I'm looking for.

When I want to pair my headphones, I click "Connect" and tap on them. Sometimes, right as I'm clicking on them, the tab finishes loading, and I accidentally tap on my neighbor's TV. It happens often and I'm tired of casting to their TVs.

I've done a bunch of reading and the only suggestion people have is to disable Wifi-Direct. This isn't the option I want since I sometimes use Wifi-Direct to project from my computer to a second device. I also use my laptop as a mobile hotspot.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Cast to device shows neighbor's TV

The neighbor's TV supports WiFi Direct.

It is a way for WiFi devices to communicate directly with each other.

You do not need to be connected to a WiFi network for WiFi Direct to work.

    Windows 10 supports WiFi Direct.

    To disable:

    1. Open Device Manager

    2. Select: View->Show hidden devices

    3. Expand "Network adapters"

    4. Disable "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter"

  3. Connecting LG smart TV to Windows 10 pc using WiFi direct

I'm having trouble connecting my LG Smart TV to a windows 10 laptop. When I go to Settings>Bluetooth and other devices I can see the TV in question listed under other devices with a note underneath "not connected". When I go to settings>wifi direct
on the TV it doesn't see the laptop. Any suggestions?

  4. Neighbors TV's showing up in Connect Tab / Wifi-Direct

Cast to device shows neighbor's TV

    Hi,

After updating to Win10 I see an unknown device in the "Cast to device" menus of Windows Media Player, IE and the Movies and TV app.

The device is "BRAVIA KDL-55W805A", I do not own such TV (my TV also appears, when it's on).

The TV does not appear in the "Devices and printers" window.

    Bluetooth is turned off.

My laptop is connected via wifi to my router. The router does not show any unknown devices.

The unknown TV disappears from the listing if I disable wifi on my laptop.

The unknown TV appears in the listing if I enable wifi, without connecting to any network.

The TV is there also when I am connected to my network.

I have seen this TV for several months now. I have restarted several times.

    How does this work?

How can a device from outside my network appear when I am not connected to any network?

Is this a potential security risk?

    How can I prevent it?

This is the same question as
    this
    unresolved post.

    /Thomas
