Windows 10: Nero InCD in windows 10?

Hello.
I found an old CD-RW I made back in the Windows Me times, with some programming on it. I used Nero InCD to write to the disk to be able to overwrite new files when my programming went forward.
But now I can't find any version of Nero InCD that can run in Windows 10, or at least I can't get it to run.

Can anyone help? I (of course) don't have a Windows Me PC anymore *Wink

OK, they seem to have used the Nero InCD format . . .

I think there is InCD reading software available on the web that might get you into the disk . . .

I used Nero INCD for many years. But you should not have to have that software to read that CD-RW disk. The ability to re-write is due to the type of disk, not the software. But if you can't read that disk, it could be because the media degraded to the point that it no longer represents what was burned to it. Average shelf life of the data burned onto a CD is less than 15 years. If you can read it after 15 years your really lucky. Since Windows ME is almost 20 years old, I would guess that data is no longer readable.

 

Packet writing CD burning method, e.g. InCD, Roxio drag to disc, etc is the most unreliable method. The discs are known to lose format and/or data.

Considering the age, its probably in that "class".

It should be possible to install in Win 10. If problem arise, then try to install it in compatibility mode as Win 7 or do.
When installed, You will have a UDF file reader, which You need to read InCD files. You can only read You're CD-RW or
for that matter DVD+RW. If You're CD or DVD's are of a good quality maker a.k.a. Verbatim, and You are keeping them
well away from sunlight, they should still be OK!

I had problems with Nero some years ago and their native format, as I recall they finally had a version that gave some different formats to try for more universal usage but I got started with Sonic Solutions which has Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning. Usually about $30 at Wal*Mart, don't need the full suite as I'm not into video editing/creating yet.

I have tried to install the program from Gordon7 (mange tak for linket), but it seems not to install anything. I have tried all the compatible modes Win10 offer, but I still can't see anything but the above. And of course I have also tried to install the reader from the disc, but that don't work.

Nero InCD

 

I do have CD-RW and CD-R disks from the Windows ME era, all are readable. That is more than I can say for some 3½" floppy discs from the same era.

However there were always problems with CD-RWs written with InCD type of format, DirectCD was Roxios version, which made me abandon it sometime ago.

Always then used a simple Erase and Write in the normal way, much more reliable.

The download referenced may not be much use as it's for Mt Rainier type disks a later variation where formatting was done at the same time as writing.
It's likely that your writer back then did not have the capability. You may need an even earlier version.
I did have Neros and Roxios, but both have now gone.

The second one looks to be from the right era, obviously you may have to right click and run it in compatibility mode.
I know it's for DirectCD, but anything is worth a try. Always found I could read DirectCD discs with Nero and vice versa at the time.

I've had to recover data from floppies that clients had kept, found with Win7 and later they needed to be write-protected before inserting or would get screwed up, warned they needed to be formatted. Just something about later versions of Windows and older technology. I've kept a WinXP computer with 5.25" and 3.5" floppies [an Epson combination drive] plus a Zip250MB drive.

 

If the InCD disc was written in UDF format, shouldn't Win10 be able to read it natively? It supports up to UDF 2.6.

If the InCD disc was written in Mount Rainier format, then the issue of drive compatibility with MRW is a factor that could prevent access to the CDRW even if the proper drivers are active.

 

I guess the CD is Mount Rainer because the first line in the message is:
