Windows 10: NET 3.5 Download failure on Windows 11

Hello. I have recently attempted to download NET 3.5. I have looked up numerous forums, including Microsoft ones and have followed every step. It does not work. Instead, every time I try to instead NET 3.5, I receive an error code. 0x80073701. Why cant I turn certain windows features on or off as well? Help please.

OK, the Windows 10 Feature installation method should have been straightforward, but since that errored out as well, something else seems to be going on with your Windows, so wait for somebody with more experience to suggest a way out.

In the mean time, if you haven't already, you could give muchomurka's suggestion a go as well with the elevated prompt and an install media to see if it works. The following link shows the detailed steps involved.

.NET 3 and 5 update failures

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and I'm trying to update my copies of .NET 3 and .NET 5. I need these current for my Python work. Every time that Windows Update tries to update these, it fails. I've tried running each singularly or together. Same results. Rebooting and trying again as the first thing I do. Same result.

Ironically, the error code is 666...

The only thing that has worked has been a full uninstall of the relevant .NET, followed by a reinstall of the newest version. I'm tired of hunting down the newest version and want the updater to do its updates without forcing me into the uninstall/reinstall cycle.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 on Intel Core i3-4130 @ 3.40 GHz processor, with 12 GB RAM and a 1 TB main drive and a 40 GB slave.

 

WU .net 5.0.8 & 5.0.10 repeated install failure

It looks like -
The 5.0 SDKs(3) installed on10 Mar; 12 Oct; 5 Nov (this one came from VS 2019 Community).

An ASP.net was also installed 12 Oct.





The only manual installs were in the past 2 days trying to get this pc to accept the Dot Net updates.

I have researched this on the web for several days trying all the suggested fixes and there has been no success.

I installed manually .Net Runtime hoping that would correct the problem, which it did not.
