.Net Native Framework Package 1.2.23205.0 keeps updating

I know Dan. He used to provide public star parties at Whipple several times a year. Unfortunately when he retired, Whipple never kept the star parties going. They used to get big crowds.

Since 5/24 neither of the two packages have installed again. I suspect that it might have been solved by an update to one of these apps:
    Moves & TV
    OneNote
    3D Builder (updated two times)
    Mail and Calendar
Office 15 Click-to-Run Components (four of them)
    Sway

Please let me know if this has happened to you as well.

Earlier this morning, BrianDrab, one of the moderators on the Sysnative Windows Update Forum, responded to my earlier post with the follow.

"Hi and welcome to Sysnative. I don't believe there is any known resolution to this. It's a minor benign annoyance. This happens on all of the Windows 10 machines at my work. Let me take a look however and see if I can come up with anything. I'll be back with you."

It looks like this is not something to be over worried about. We should nonetheless continue to note and new development on this issue.

The last update for them that I have is the morning of 5/25. I don't have this computer on all the time so I will see if anything pops up today. It is obviously a bug in Windows Update. This seems to be par for the course for Windows 10. One of these days they may get this thing working properly.

.Net Native Framework Package 1.2.23205.0 keeps updating

BrianDrab on Sysnative posted a response saying that I likely did not experience an update on 5/18, 5/19, and 5/24. Turns out he was right. You as well?
I asked him if this means that he knows which apps are causing the updating issue. I'll post his response as soon as I receive it. I seems odd that he didn't just say so in his previous post but then again he might not know for sure.

Same here and again today. Nothing from BrianDrab either. Looks like we may have to just wait until MS fixes this.

It is interesting that another old laptop that I have converted to Windows 10 is not getting these repeated updates. I don't know what is the key to this happening.

.Net Native Framework Package 1.2.23205.0 keeps updating

I have three Dell desktops and one Dell laptop and only one of the desktops is seeing the repeated updates. The one that is updating had the Windows Software Development Kit installed. I've long suspected this is part of the problem since it appears to be something that everyone with this problem has installed. But I am puzzled that removing it from my system had not stopped the updating. Maybe the uninstalles leaves behind some registry keys. I suppose the a could try to clean them out but since this is my production PC I'd rather not risk muncking it up.

  9. You might want to try using cCleaner > Registry scan to clean up the registry. There are two things that didn't carry over to Win10 - .NET 1 and Media Center. Both of these have pieces in the registry and cCleaner > Registry will find them and remove the extraneous entires.

    Download cCleaner
Watch the install for other software (Chrome, Toolbars, etc)
Remove the check marks - do not install

    Luanch cCleaner
    Pick Registry
[ Scan for issues ] button
    Select issues
[ Fix selected issues ] button
    Backup - YES
    Fix all

    Restart your machine

The registry backup of the keys that were changed is your safety net. I've never had to use the backup, but every machine is different.

I cannot find the Windows Software Development Kit installed on my system so I don't think that is the problem.

Hi John. The SDK isn't something that would be installed without you seeking it out. If you didn't install it then that shoots a big hole in my theory. It's looking more and more like this issue is in the hands of MS to fix.

Hi Slartybart. TY for the response. I have CCleaner but just never sat down and worked with it before. Generally I'm very conservative with registry cleaning. I'm not shy about making individual registry edits as long I understand exactly what's the key(s) do. Since Johnpd blew a hole in my theory (in Post#38) about SDK, I'll probably just sit tight until MS fixes the issue.

I'm with you on conservative use of registry cleaners. I trust cCleaner to not be too aggressive and clean up only the things that really are broken. In other words ... cCleaner is also very conservative.

Cleaner lets you create a backup of all keys before you fix them.
The option is always available to you if you get tired of waiting for MS.

Thank you Slartybart. Your advice and reassurance is much appreciated. I overlooked the backup option. I think I will take the time to get to know cCleaner. It's been sitting on my desktop for about 6 months just waiting for me to pay attention to it! I should definitely get to know it as it sounds like another valuable tool.

I like your sig, very true. Knowledge is the most precious gift anyone can give. Just can't beat seeing the light come on in someone's eyes when you show them something new!

On July 1 the cycle of Net Native Framework Package 1.2.23205.0 and MS Advertising SDK for XMAL updating each day began again after about a 2 week hiatus. The updates have occurred each day through yesterday, July 7.

After seeing a post about a similar but not the same issue, I uninstalled cCleaner yesterday afternoon and this morning there was neither a Net Native Framework update nor an MS Advertising SDK for XMAL update.

I'll continue to monitor the situation and report back in a few days.
