Windows 10: NetObjects Fusion 15 will not run after uninstalling version 12

I got a message about not enough space available for updates.So I looked and had NOF 12 and NOF 15 showing in the installed apps.,So as I always start NOF 15 I thought that NOF 12 was redundant so uninstalled it.Now when starting NOF 15 it says the serial number is invalid.Cannot access any site to get any joy in how to correct the situation. Even Essentials will not run as there seems to be no server to connect with.The .nod files will not open in a version I did get running as it was an old Essentials and a newer version would not install correctly.I have been updating the various versions o

The issue with NetObjects fusion is related to the required JAVA script. Make sure the JAVA script for NetObjects Fusion 2015 is 32bit, the latest Microsoft Update KB5025239 creates an error indicating faulting module path jscript9Legacy.dll fails, the correct JAVA script is required for NetObjects Fusion 2015 in order to start the program otherwise an app crash will occur, (Review Event viewer Windows Logs/Application for complete information regarding the error), currently NetObjects does not have a fix for this, but uninstalling KB5025239 allows the NetObjects Fusion software to load. One problem area that will occur though that the KB5025239 will attempt to install itself and Windows 11 will request a restart to complete the installation, avoid the installation of this update,

Great hint! This also works by opening .nod files directly.

With this, I can keep the Windows Update enabled and still access NetObject Fusion.

Thanks to those that reported this. I have the same problem and this post allowed me to uninstall KB5025239 and rescue Netobjects Fusion. And I have now permanently disabled Windows 11 updates.

The arrogance of Microsoft in making completely serviceable software incompatible through updates is intolerable. Aside from the significant human capital over years of learning these tools there are thousands of hours of work that is suddenly unsupported. And in some cases these ‘downgrades’ void perpetual licenses which were very expensive.

Some folk make the argument that Netobjects Fusion is no longer supported and doesn’t make for optimized code. That may be true, but it works to make safe, fast usable web content, without bloatware, consuming huge amounts of processor commitment and masses of storage.



The least Microsoft could do is allow these programs to run under compatibility mode and advise users of the software implications of any pending updates - but they don’t.



And they did exactly the same thing with Photoshop 6.0. I hope that someone has the resources to challenge this abysmal behaviour in court, and that users will let MS know what they think about this. Just wait until it affects your favourite application!
