Windows 10: netplwiz AND control userpasswords2 do NOT open. How do I configure a secure autologon...

Hello everyone,System information & disclosure:I am working on an IPC227E which has Windows 10 IoT entreprise 2016 on it. Latest update installed was WIN10 22H2 at the beggining of June 2023.I am using a local account. Windows Hello is not supported on this device. If you feel like you need more information on the device I will evaluate what I can and can't disclose but will be sure to update you either with the information or with the fact that I can't provide it.Initial problem:I have created a startup script that opens an app on startup, however it seems it only does so on first login r

How do I completely remove the sign in password. Netplwiz and control userpasswords2 do not work. None of the remedies on the forum works.

Remove sign in password, do not suggest netplwiz or userpasswords2, they do not work.

 

Windows 10 autologon failing repeatedly

Using Windows 10; for years have had autologon set (via netplwiz) and working properly to log me into MS account at boot on my personal machine.

Occasionally following an update, the autologon would not work, though settings appear not to have changed. No error messages; just wouldn't automatically login. Resetting would fix the problem for indefinite period, until next random similar event. ("Reset"
being:

• open netplwiz
• check box requiring login and apply/OK
• reopen netplwiz
• uncheck the require-login box and fill in passwords
• A-OK on next and subsequent boots.

This week the problem has returned, but the "reset" does not work more than one boot sequence. After a second or subsequent reboot, Windows 10 goes back to requiring manual login.

What is happening; and, please, how to fix it?
