    NETSH behaviour changed in Windows 10. Not giving error when it should

    I found information to use to connect to a Wifi using the netsh command line.
    http://www.hanselman.com/blog/HowToConnectToAWirelessWIFINetworkFromTheCommandLineInWindows7.aspx

    I used this command to connect to Wifi and this SSID is not at my office , however it
    still shows Connection request was completed successfully.
    So whether the SSID is there or not it always returns connection request
    was completed successfully.

    I am trying to do is that if I am at home I connect to the WLAN if the
    hardwire is not connected. I have it in my startup .

    If you have any input I would appreciate it. Windows 10 must have done
    something different

    Windows 10 both profiles are in the system. I am at WORK and MywifiN2 is not available

    netsh wlan connect name="MywifiN2" (trying to connect to the SSID not there) even if I use ssid="MywifiN2" same
    Connection request was completed successfully.

    netsh wlan connect name="MyWork"
    Connection request was completed successfully.
    (The wifi connects and no issues)
    Wifi connects when I do this at home to the home network
    netsh wlan connect name="MywifiN2"
    if %ERRORLEVEL%==0 (
    echo "Home wifi Connected."
    ) else (
    echo "I am at work no wifi"
    )
    "Home wifi connected"
    No matter what I always get the ERRORLEVEL to be 0 (successful), and it is connecting to the work
    On Windows 7 it works fine
    netsh wlan connect name="MywifiN2"
    The network specified by profile "MywifiN2" is not available to
    connect.
    netsh wlan connect name="MyWork"
    Connection request was completed successfully.

    netsh wlan connect name="MywifiN2"
    The network specified by profile "MywifiN2" is not available to
    connect.
    if %ERRORLEVEL%==0 (
    echo "Home wifi Connected." ) else (
    echo "I am at work no wifi"
    )
    "I am at work no wifi"

    thanks

    :)

  2. When i type in "netsh wlan show drivers" it showed me that hosted network isn't supported

    Hi sri vathsa,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft community.

    We understand your concern and will certainly assist you to solve it.

    What is the make and model of the network adapter?

    Since your device says Hosted network supported: No, meaning you can no longer run your hotspot in AP mode.

    Try the following steps and check.

    Method 1:

    1. Go to device manager.
    2. Click on view and press on "show hidden devices".
    3. Go down to the list of devices and expand the node "Network Devices" .
    4. Find an adapter with the name "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter" and then right click on it.
    5. Select Enable
    6. This will enable the AdHoc created connection, it should appear in the network connections in Network and Sharing Center, if the AdHoc network connection is not appear then open elevated command prompt and apply this command "netsh wlan stop hostednetwork"
    without quotations.

    7. After this, the connection should appear.

    Method 2:

    If the issue persists,

    Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.
    a: Press Windows key + X.
    b: Then click Command Prompt(Admin)
    c: Enter the following command, replacing the values for SSID and key with the network name and password you want:

    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=AdHoc key=password
    d: Run the following command to start the network:
    netsh wlan start hostednetwork
    e: Search in the Start menu for “View network connections.
    f: Right-click your main ethernet connection and choose “Properties.”
    g: Under the “Sharing” tab, click the box labeled “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection"

    h: In the drop down below the above box, choose the network connection that currently has internet access. Click OK.

    Please let us know if the issue got resolved or you need any further assistance
