Network access problem after router change

Just switched from Virgin Media to BT and all is well apart from a problem with my home network, consisting of a desktop, a laptop, and a NAS. Desktop and laptop are both running Win 10.2004. The problem seems to be with name resolution when laptop tries to access shares on desktop and fails with Network Path Not Found. However access is fine by IP. Desktop can access laptop and NAS by name or IP. Turning firewalls off doesn't change anything.

The main issue for me is the laptop needs to map network drives on the desktop but this isn't possible until a solution is found.

Here's the IP configuration for each machine, desktop first -

    - - - Updated - - -

Have realised I can map network drives using \\192.168.1.XX\Shared Folder name so immediate problem resolved. I would still like to do it by names though so I can expand Computer Name in Explorer\Network

    :)

Network problem after router change. Help.

Ok, I just looked up steps for the 120.
Disconnect it from your existing network, and assign it an IP outside of the the 54g's DHCP pool. (or reserve it's IP address using the 120's(sorry earlier I typod 150) MAC).
Disable the DHCP server in the 120N - this will cause it just to act as an access point.
Remember to set your gateway in the 120N as your network IP for the 54g.

Afterthought: If the 120N has a wireless network isolation option, make sure it is disabled or unchecked!

Router password changes and network access

I changed my router password. My PC (windows 10) allowed me to enter my new network password so I can connect to the internet. My old windows vista laptop did the same. My new dell windows 10 laptop refused to allow me to enter the new password - it simply
kept saying that connection was not possible. If I change the router password back to the original the dell laptop immediately connects again but as soon as I try and change it - nothing. I have been through any number of settings trying to reslove this but
basically if I change the router password the 'network' becomes inaccessible. Any suggestions anyone? thanks

Network access problem after router change

Network problem after router change. Help.

Even If you have a network inside a network....

the WRT120N piggybacked off of the WRT54g - the devices on the WRT120N Network should be able to see any device on the network above it, just not the other way around.

Still, the 120N should have a setting that is simlar to "Use as access point"- would make it all one network.

Was there a change in your IP addressing scheme when you switched the routers(ex: 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.2.0)? If so, wou will need to reconfigure the IP address of your print server to reside on the same network (if your network WAS 192.168.1.0 and NOW is 192.168.2.0 and your print server is for example 192.168.1.100, then you will need to change your print servers IP to 192.168.2.100).
    Just some things to check.
