  1. Network Adapter Reinstall After Restart

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this (own thread vs just a comment).

Yesterday I did a network restart because I was just restarting everything on my laptop and I didn't think much of it because it said it would reinstall everything that it removed. However, after it finished restarting my Wi-Fi was no longer working and there were no network connections available (troubleshooter said "Windows could not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver").

I have been searching for solutions for this all day. At first I couldn't see any of the adapters, but then one websites said to click show hidden devices. Then I found out that when you clicked on some of them there was the Code 45 error (Currently, this hardware device is not connected). After searching around, there were some websites th at said to uninstall the drivers and then scan for hardware changes, apparently that was supposed to reinstall it.

After uninstalling the adapters that I did have in the device manager network adapters list, I was unable to reinstall them. Now I have 8 WAN Miniport in the list, all of which do not work and also have the Code 45 error.

    Laptop info:

Windows 10 Version: 10.0.15063 Build 15063 Manufacturer & Model: HP Stream Laptop 14-ax0XX

Sorry if this is longer than necessary. Please keep in mind that I'm just a teenager and have pretty much zero experience with the technical side of laptops/computers. Let me know if there's any more info about my laptop that you need to help.

    Network adapter

    Hi Ryan,

Let's work on this together. Have you restarted your device since then? This should reinstall the network adapters automatically. If it didn't, let's perform the Network reset.
It removes any network adapters you have installed and the settings for them. After your PC restarts, any network adapters are reinstalled, and the settings for them are set to the defaults.
    Follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet >
      Status
      > Network reset.
    • On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes.
    • Wait for your PC to restart and see if that fixes the problem.

    Please advise as necessary.

    Network Adapter Reinstall After Restart

    Issues with network adapters

    Hi Alfonso,

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter when you switch from WiFi to Ethernet connection. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems including clearing the network cache to obtain a new
IP from the new network. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Identify and repair network problems, and then select
Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
    • Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

If the issue persists, kindly try the troubleshooting steps on the following link:

We recommend that you try the steps on the Update the network adapter driver,
Run the Network troubleshooter followed by networking commands, and Use network reset to reinstall network devices sections.
