Network adapters named #2 after resetting PC

My network adapter names changed to #2 (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Network Connection) after I did PC reset from Windows settings. I tried to alter the registry as per some instructions on the internet, but it still shows Wi-Fi 2 on some areas even though I already changed the name via regedit (Task Manager under Performance/WiFi is one of them). And I couldn't seem to be able to find any info on how to change the Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) #2. I tried to uninstall Intel Wireless Bluetooth via Device Manager and reinstall it, but it still shows #2.

I did PC reset twice. First only the Windows installation drive (CNetwork adapters named #2 after resetting PC :), and second time, it's for all drives (C: and DNetwork adapters named #2 after resetting PC :), but both still rendered the same results.

Any ideas on how to change those adapters names? My PC is HP Spectre X360-13-ap0057tu.

    Thanks for the help.

  2. Wireless Network Connection adapter name.

    Thank you for your reply.

My query is about the network adapter name change happened in Windows 10 from Windows 7.

In windows 10 it displays "Wi- Fi"

where as in Windows 7 it is "Wireless Network Connection".

Can we expect the adapter name as "Wi-Fi" in all Windows 10 machine, or there is any name change by default.

    Network adapter

    Hi Ryan,

Let's work on this together. Have you restarted your device since then? This should reinstall the network adapters automatically. If it didn't, let's perform the Network reset.
It removes any network adapters you have installed and the settings for them. After your PC restarts, any network adapters are reinstalled, and the settings for them are set to the defaults.
    Follow these steps:

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet >
      Status
      > Network reset.
    • On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes.
    • Wait for your PC to restart and see if that fixes the problem.

    Please advise as necessary.
