Windows 10: Network Adapters Requires Further Installation

My laptop stopped connecting to any internet source (wifi, hotspot, ect.) and the troubleshooter and usual quick fixes didn't work. I checked the device drivers and it showed that some of the microsoft wi-fi direct virtual adapters were 't working. In the event log, it showed that they began to install before they malfunctioned and now needed "further installation". I tried to update them but they say the drivers are the most up to date. I tried to scan for hardware changes but nothing came up.


Does anyone have ideas of what I could try next?

Install a driver for your network adapter

Go to the list of network adapters in the control panel, turn of the lan and turn it on again. See if that helps.

Method 1: Network troubleshooting

• • • On the search bar type “Troubleshooting”
    • Click on “Network and Internet”
    • Click on “Network Adapter” and run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Download and install the latest firmware updates for the Network adapter

Follow these steps to un-install the drivers:

• On the search bar type “ Device Manager”
• On the left pane locate “Network Adapter” and expand by clicking on it
• Right on the “ Network driver” option and click “Uninstall’
• Download the latest Wireless network adapter driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

Network adapter keeps disabling

The issue you are facing could be due network adapter driver is being outdated. Let’s try simple steps troubleshooting steps and check if this helps. Follow the below methods:

Method 1.

I would suggest you to run Network troubleshooter, it will automatically troubleshoot the network problem and check. If it helps.

  Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel.
  
• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on View all on the left navigation pane.
  
• 
  Click on Network troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced on the Network troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).
  
• 
  Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Network troubleshooter.
  

If the issue still persist, try the below method.

Method 2.

I recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver and check. Follow the below steps:

  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Locate for Network adaptor and click on it expand it.
  
• 
  Right click on the device and click on
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done installing the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic network adapter driver.
  

If this doesn’t help to fix the issue. I suggest you to update the network driver. Skip step3 from the above steps and right click on the device and click on update.
