Windows 10: Network adaptor cannot start after PC waking up

This happens occasionally. After PC waking up from sleep, the Intel 82579v network device cannot start( code 10). A reboot is required to get it work again. I have tried Intel newest driver, older driver, and windows driver, but the problem still exists.

Wifi connection problems with Windows 10

You are on the right track... updating your drivers is the first step to fixing the Wi-Fi connection problems with Windows 10. Go to the PC manufacture's website for support to download the latest drivers. If you have a Dell.com/Support will scan you PC
for required updates. This is what I did before upgrading to Windows 10.

Alternatively, if your Wi-Fi adaptor device is made by Intel, you can go to Intel.com and use their Driver Update Utility to update the any Intel device drivers.

However, before and after the device driver updates, I still had a problem with the Wi-Fi not connecting to a wireless network after the laptop wakes-up from sleep. There is a problem with the Wi-Fi adaptor driver and the power settings when Windows wakes
up from sleep.

The solution I found was to Change the Power Saving Mode of the Wireless Adaptor Settings on the Advance Power Options screen. I used these settings:

On battery: Low Power Setting

Plugged in: Maximum Performance.

From Windows Start:

Start -> Settings -> System -> Power and Sleep -> Additional Power settings -> Change plan settings.

From the Control Panel:

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings



This worked for the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 in my Dell laptop.

I cannot find the link to this solution. It may have been Microsoft Window Forums or on Windows 10 Help Forums.

 

Whenever I put my laptop to sleep or hibernate and open it back on, the wireless network adapater needs to be reset in order for it to recieve Wi-Fi again

Is not turned off. Whenever the device wakes up from sleep, it can detect networks. When I try to connec to a network, it will state 'Connecting' after awhile, it will state 'Can't connect to this network'. In order for me to have the a bility to connect,
I need to go and reset the wireless network adapter.

Summary:

The wireless network adapter is not set to turn off after sleep. It is turned on but cannot connect to a network after wake.

 

Hi ztartennery.

If you go into Device Manager, find the adapter, right click, properties, Power Management Tab, remove the check mark, allow the is computer to power off device.

Give that a try please.
