Network Computer visibility after Win10 clean install

Hi,I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 build 19044What I encountered was that neither the network computers nor storage was listed when viewed with File Explorer > My PC. Only the media devices were listed under Network Locations.I googled the problem extensively and also followed the advice of Microsoft Community Moderator Muralidhar on the forum https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/ready-nas-network-visibility-after-latest-windows/51d5e4f8-e864-4c48-853a-37d7e0622ccd without success. What I did find is that the PC does see the other network computers and stora

Inconsistent Computer Visibility Across Win10 Network

Your question has been asked many times over the last few years. I have yet to see a solution that works for everyone. I am still plagued by that problem.

I have come up with a workaround that at least lets me access all my computers even when they don't show up in Network. Here is what I did:

    1. Create folder next to Network called My Network

    2. Open folder and create shortcut to each compute in my home network

Note: to create a shortcut to a computer
    1. Right-click and select New > Shortcut
    2. For Target use the format \\YourComputerName

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

  4. Network Computer visibility after Win10 clean install

My computer is not visible on network

Resetting the network settings may help reconfigure settings that may help resolve the issue. Since the issue still persists, we suggest checking the Advance sharing settings if network discovery is turned on. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Control Panel.
    • Click Network and Internet.
    • Click Network and Sharing Center.
    • Click Change advanced sharing settings in the left pane.
    • Under the Private section, make sure that Turn on network discovery is selected.
    • Click Save changes.
Get back to us with the outcome so we can help you further.
