  1. Network Connection at Startup

PC (Windows 10 Home) find the wrong network connection when at startup (Intel(R) 82579V Network Connection #2). If I ask it to restart or use device manager to scan for new hardware it finds the correct network connection (Intel(R) 82579V Network Connection). Netsh shows only one interface and one profile. How do I force the PC to startup using Network Connection?

    :)

N97 Startup - "Allow connection to network for home screen updates"

When the N97 starts up I get a message; "Allow connection to network to enable updates to Home screen content? Updates can be disabled from 'Options'.

Can I make this request go away?

I have tried to find the means to disable it in Options, but cannot find it. Home screen is on offline mode, but still this appears.

  3. Strange Network reference at startup

Hi Al. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Download, install and run Scans with Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner which will root out malware and spyware as deep as it goes:

Confirm nothing you don't want is in your browser Add-On's or Extensions, then change the Home page back in Settings.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

  4. Network Connection at Startup

    Hi truepharaoh.

Not sure how you got two Network Connections, you likely only have one cable and it is the same network.

I believe if you do a Network Reset all networks will be forgotten, including Wireless passwords. If you do a reset you may have to re-install any special communication software like VPN's.

Start => Settings => Network & internet => Scroll to bottom of right hand side =>Network Reset

  8. Network Connection at Startup

I disabled network connection #2 and when rebooted the PC found the correct network connection. I hope this is a permanent behavior. Thank you.

    Ok great *Smile ,

well now you know what works , you can try deleting No#2 in Device Manager and see what happens after a reboot...

If it doesn't work like I think , you may need to leave No#2 permanently Disabled.....

and make sure the New Network is also marked as a Private network , not Public ...assuming you are at home and connected to your own Router....

  10. You should remove all wireless profiles and reconnect to your wireless router.

Execute below command to remove all Windows stored wireless profiles.

Code: netsh wlan delete profile name=* i=*[/quote] After executing this command you will have to reconnect to your wireless router.

  13. Network Connection at Startup

I don't have a wifi card on this PC only Ethernet. But I ran the netsh/lan/delete command on the existing LAN connection and it seems to solve the problem. Thank you.
