Network connection Lottery !! All insider builds failing

    Hi folks
I can't get any networking connections FROM Windows to Non Windows devices unless I connect via specific IP addresses-- connections FROM the non Windows devices TO Windows do work.

This doesn't matter what level of SMB I set -- I think not only is something with the security hosed up on latest versions of W10 but also probably NETBIOS is either deprecated or broken as well.

This makes browsing the Network on Windows a real pain --there's no problem between Non Windows devices TO other Non windows devices or between Windows and Windows. Also no problem from non windows devices TO Windows.

I use DHCP to let router assign IP addresses -- It's too much of a pain to assign fixed IP addresses on LAN.

Anybody know also of decent Network browser (On Windows) that will browse when IP addresses on internal LAN are using IPV6. File explorer doesn't seem to like IPV6 either.

Last version of Windows I'm using where networking is OK is 1909 18363.753
All latest insider builds don't work (for me) as described

    Cheers
    jimbo

    :)

  3. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.

Network connection Lottery !! All insider builds failing

No network connection with Windows 10 Update 1709 build 16299.98

Lenovo Thinkpad E540 Laptop version 1703 build 15063.726 with an automatic update to 1709 build 16299.98.

Once the update finished the install I had no network connections available. I looked in settings and there were no network adapters listed. I had an ethernet adapter, a wi-fi adapter, and I was also able to tether my phone for a network connection previous
to the update. After the update the network adapters were all gone.

I looked in the forums for suggestions, but mostly the suggestions were to update the drivers. This was impossible because there was no way for me to connect to the internet.

    I tryed:

Following this article Lenovo apparaten getest voor Windows 10 Fall Creators Update versie 1709 (oktober 2017) - US

my laptop is not listed as officially supported for this update, but I assume it is because no one tested it.

What should I do? throw my laptop into the trash?

Restore the previous build 1703 is not an option since:

    • I can delay this update only for a limited time (very very annoying, it is the third time I was forced to install the 1709 update and forced again to rollback to the previous one)
    • 1709 build has some virtualization features I need

Many thanks to anyone helping me.
