Windows 10: Network connections disappeared

Running a Win 10 machine and 2 XP machines on a network. All was well yesterday, but for some reason today the two other PC do not shopw up on the network and I can't seem to get them back. As an example one of the missing PCs is called Xptransfer and the other BasementPC.

What is strange is that both show up in McAffe's network window in the AV program

Only thing I can think of is a new update broke something.

OK, I have some progress...

I can now get to the internet using the docking station (hardwired connection).

I did this by opening up an Admin Command Prompt (windows+x, a, Alt-Y)

then typing

netcfg -s n

and then I removed every single entry in there with

netcfg -v u ***

Where *** is the name of the item.

I then removed every Networking Device in Device Manager and rebooted.

When the desktop came back I went to Network Connections and it had put back in the Bluetooth one, the Docking Station one and the Wifi one (still disabled).

I added:

Client : Client for Microsoft Networks

Service : File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks & QoS Packet Scheduler

Protocol : Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

I now have internet on the docking station!

Now to fix the wifi

Hi Anil, thanks for the post. In answer to your questions.

1) Never with this machine.

2) Yes, 3 different ones

3) Yes, I ran it manually (in my bullet points above)

I have also un-installed via Device Manager a few times.

Given that it looks like it does have connectivity before I log in it feels like something is actively taking the decision to disable them upon login but I tried creating a new user and that seems to do the same.
