Network diagnostic tool keeps popping up randomly

Randomly while my computer is on and running either idle or while I'm using it the network diagnostic tool will activate by itself and run a check then display that nothing is wrong is there a way to turn this off or what could be causing this?

    network diagnostic tool

Windows 7 has a built-in "network diagnostic tool." You don't need to install it.

    Perhaps you should explain ...

    1. What "MS diagnostic tool" you're referring to, including where you found a reference to that tool
    2. The details of the network problem you're trying to diagnose
    3. The complete text of the error message you get when you try to run the "MS diagnostic tool"

    Windows Network Diagnostics Tool Problem

    Hey there.

Having a issue with my internet adaptors and the Network Diagnostics Tool.

So firstly my network adaptor randomly stops working and then disappears. I have a ethernet cable going into my computer straight from the router and a TP-Link Wireless adaptor plugged into a USB port.

This happens to both the adaptors, the cable and the wireless. They simply stop working and disappear from the network connections.

When I use the "troubleshoot" option i get the window open with the Windows Network Diagnostics tool come up, with the loading bar, but nothing comes up, as in it says its doing anything like it should such as "searching for problems in network" "restarting
adaptor" "verifying problem has been sorted". It just stays on that window, loading and never does anything.

I have already tried several things such as...

    a) checked the Diagnostics Policy Service is running. It is.

    b) Made sure the network services have admin privileges

    c) Reinstall the network adaptor card driver

    d) Ran a system file checker via command prompt.

The cable is completely not working now, as in the adaptor. I cannot get internet via there at all. I have checked the cable with a laptop and it works. So its definitely my computer that's the issue. As for the wireless adaptor, if I take it out and put
it back in to the USB port it then comes back up under the network connections and I can get internet back.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm concerned about the fact my adaptors just disappear and the network diagnostics tool is not working.

Network diagnostics policy randomly closing. How can I fix this?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with Windows 10. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

The issue could occur if network driver is not updated or there is a change in network settings.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information:

    • When you say that "the network diagnostics policy keeps randomly closing", what is the exact error message?

    • When you say that "troubleshooting problems", have you tried to run Network Adapter troubleshooter?

    • Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

    • Are you getting any Network Connection issues

I would suggest you to update the latest driver for network adapter under Device Manager.

    1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

    2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on
    Enter Key
    .

    3. Expand Network Adapter.

    4. Right click on the wireless driver and click on Update driver software.

Reply to us with the information, so that we can assist you better.

Let us know if you need any further assistance on Windows related issues and we will be glad to help.
