  1. Network Driver issues

I'm not sure whether this issue is related to windows 10, the drivers for my intel network card or due to age of the unit.

    Specs:

    Laptop: Asus Rog G752

Network adapter: IntelR Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265

the machine is about 5+ years old

    Symptoms:

Occasionally while using my computer I noticed I would lose internet connectivity, but in the windows tray via internet access I'd still be connected to wifi with the usual "Connected, secured". To make things weirder, any localhost servers running would also become unreachable.

I'm also seeing lower internet speeds compared to other devices on the same network.

    What I've tried:

Disabling and enabling via device manager doesn't work. I've also unticked the "allow pc to turn off the device to save power" as I've seen a post mention that, however, I'm always plugged in.

I've installed intel's driver helper and installed the latest adapter drivers.

So far I've only found a temporary solution and that's performing a full system reboot. Which is very annoying especially when trying to develop something or any other task

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of issue? My best guess is its the age of the machine, leading to a degrading network card. If this is in fact the case, would an external wifi antenna via USB work or does that still use the onboard network adapter?

    Thanks in advance!

ps. first time posting on this forum, my apologies if this is either the wrong place or if I've missed some post guidelines. Cheers

    :)

    Issues with network adapters

    Hi Alfonso,

To resolve this issue, we suggest that you run the Network troubleshooter when you switch from WiFi to Ethernet connection. The Network troubleshooter can help diagnose and fix common connection problems including clearing the network cache to obtain a new
IP from the new network. Kindly follow the steps below:

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Identify and repair network problems, and then select
Identify and repair network problems from the list of results.
    • Follow the steps in the troubleshooter and see if that fixes the problem.

If the issue persists, kindly try the troubleshooting steps on the following link:

We recommend that you try the steps on the Update the network adapter driver,
Run the Network troubleshooter followed by networking commands, and Use network reset to reinstall network devices sections.

  3. Network Connectivity Issue

    Hi,

The problem you've encountered with your network connection is most likely caused by an outdated network driver since this appeared after the recent update. We suggest updating the driver for your network adapter. Please follow the steps below:

    • Right-click Windows key and click Device Manager.
    • Expand the Network adapters category.
    • Right-click the one that says Ethernet Connection, then click
      Update Driver
      .
    • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If Windows is unable to find a new driver for your network adapter, try checking its manufacturer's website.

If the above steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver. Here's how:

    • Open Device Manager, right-click the name your network adapter, then select
      Uninstall.
    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

    Update us with the result.

    Regards.

Network Issues After Installing and Reinstalling AMD Drivers

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forum.

An outdated or incompatible network adapter driver usually causes issues like this. I suggest you to try the troubleshooting steps listed in
Fix network connection issues in Windows and check if it works.

This could also be due to the power saving mode enabled for the driver, you may want to disable it and see if it works.

    • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
      Device Manager.

    • Locate the network adapter for your device, right click the same, and choose
      Properties.
    • Under Power Management tab, uncheck
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
      .
    • Reboot the machine to see if the connection remains stable.

To set your wireless adapter for maximum performance, follow the steps listed below:

    • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
      ‘Power Options’
      .
    • Click on ‘Additional Power Settings’ and choose ‘Change Plan Settings’
      for the current plan.
    • Select ‘Change Advanced Power Settings’ > ‘Wireless Adapter Settings’.
    • Expand ‘Power Saving Mode’ and set it for
      Maximum Performance.
