Windows 10: Network Drivers

I installed Win 10P this evening and one of the drivers that were missing was for my NEW Z97X G3 MB with Killer E2200 LAN.
Don't know if this will be an issue with any other LAN driver but, I was a little dismayed that being a BRAND NEW M/B and
that this is not just a one of a kind LAN chip, that MS had forgotten this one?

Win 10 also doesn't install all INTEL chipset drivers either. Maybe someone else could post their experiences with Win 10 and LAN drivers?

So, if you have a M/B with this LAN chipset, go to Atheros Website and download their new drivers, much later than the ones from GB.

Nokia X3 drivers crashed my network drivers

Some downloaded Nokia drivers for X3 to my PC on Windows 7 seemed to crash my network drivers, both wireless and cable. Had to recover an earlier configuration of win 7.



Anyone know of this problem?

I am not sure this will solve the problem but you can try this

1. Go to device manager

2. Uninstall Portable devices X3

3. Uninstall modem drivers related to X3

4. Uninstall PC Suite/ Ovi Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia Connectivity cable drivers from Add/remove

5. restart your system

6. Install latest Nokia Ovi Suite and try

I was just wondering why MS wouldn't have the driver for such a NEW hardware.
Oh well. *Smile

 

Microsoft does not create device drivers but includes drivers supplied by the manufacturer. In this case I expect the drivers would have been for Windows 8.1. Before a driver is included it must be submitted by the manufacturer and pass specific tests. I suspect that the manufacturer has not yet done so or it did not pass necessary testing. Sometimes manufacturers choose not to submit drivers to Microsoft but prefer to distribute them independently.

Edit: The released version of Windows 10 will have better driver support. The preview is intended for advanced users who would have no difficulty downloading drivers from the manufacturer.
