Windows 10: Network drives crash when not reachable

Hi there,


We have a problem with our internal network drives.


Our setup:

We share our network drives via GPO Action: Update, Path via FQDN, Persitent.

When our users are in the internal network, everything works fine.

When they are out of the office using their laptops, starting the VPN and opening the explorer, everything works, too.

If they don't start the VPN and just open the explorer not even accesing the mapped drive, the explorer crashes and they have to reboot.

When the start the VPN, they can open the explorer, close the VPN and the explorer still works even after reopening.


These problems started around Windows Update 1909 but still persists to Windows Update 2004.


Does anyone have a solution, a workaround or a similar issue?

Network path not reachable

My main PC has two mapped drives, one to a NAS and the other a folder on the PC
Other devices at home can reach the NAS but not the mapped folder
I have proved it's to do with the KTS fw, when I turn off the fw the mapped folder is then reachable
I recently upgraded KTS to 20.0.14.1805(d) but can't be sure it broke then
I'm currently on 1903 18975.1 (I had to skip 18980 as the build green-screened for me & 18985 is on its way)
I've looked at KTS fw settings but am at a loss
Anyone know where to look?
I've just fixed it!
I changed the NIC to trusted network from public network but not sure if/how it got changed tho!

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

 

Help needed with simple wired network

Step one- Connect all PC's to router, and then the router to the modem. PC's go to router by the ports labeled "1-4" on the back of the router. WAN port goes to router. Power up all network equipment, and then systems.
Step two- Power on the computer connected to port one. Go into router settings at 192.168.0.1 and configure internet, dyndns, firewall, etc.
Step three- Go to "network set up wizard" in windows. (Network places- network set up wizard). The rest is self explanatory.
Step four- right click on each drive and printer you want to share, and then configure sharing preferences. Should be easy enough.
Step five- right click my computer, and the select "map network drive". Using the network address for each piece of hardware you shared, assign network drive letters.
