  1. Network Drives not recognised by drive name

I have a home network with two network drives, and a few PCs/laptops. A few days ago maybe 22 December 2019, my Dell Windows 10 PC stopped recognising the networked drives. My old XP machine has no problem.

With my Win10 PC, I can connect the drives through the file manager network tab, but they connect using the IP address. I need them to be connected by their drive name.

I tried to connect one of the shares to a new drive letter V: using the \\drive\share name, and it worked once, but wouldn't reconnect on startup, and when I tried to connect it again, it failed to find the \\drive\share.

My setup is a little unusual, in that the Win10PC has 2 users - my MS account user, and my legacy logon user which is also an administrator. I use the legacy user for everything including the network drives, and have the MS account to make MS happy.

    :)

  2. The DVD drive was not showing not recognised.

    Thanks for info.

i have followed steps but still not working.

the DVDs/cd drive is shown in file manager and it shows it to be working correctly but when a cd/ dvd disc is inserted it is still not recognised.

If if I double click on the drive in file manager the disc is ejected and I am asked to insert a disc.

    Any further suggestions?

    regards

    External hard drive not recognised

Worked out what the problem was with my external drive notbeing recognised. I looked under Device Manager > USB Controllers and there itwas listed with an exclamation mark with the error saying that "the driverfor this device is in memory" or words to that effect. I right clicked thecorresponding Mass Storage device and uninstalled it and then unplugged theexternal drive. I rebooted my desktop and plugged the external drive in againand it reinstalled its driver again and I am now able to use the external driveagain. Network Drives not recognised by drive name :)
