Windows 10: Network File Sharing Issue

I could access \\OtherUserPcName and enter their PC to view his shared file/folder, but others could not access \\MyPcName to view my shared folder. I have checked all the necessary options in network sharing setting, and my connection is set to private.Are there any settings in my PC that's causing this issue?

Network Discovery & File Sharing refuse to stay ON

Hi,

No, I don't have Malwarebytes installed.

I also followed the steps from the support link you suggested, but to no avail.

Actually all was fine until a day ago. This issue happened overnight.

Enabling Network discovery & file sharing (by any method) does not stick.
It promptly switches back to OFF.

1. Are you trying to share the wireless network connection from Windows device to phone?
   
2. What is the make and model of the phone?
   
3. Which version of Windows is installed on your device?
   

Refer the article ‘Which version of Windows operating system am I running’
to provide the details.

If you’re referring to sharing the Wireless network connection in Windows 10, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Press Windows + I key on your keyboard and click on Network & Internet.
   
2. On the network & Internet page, click on ‘Mobile hotspot’.
   
3. ‘Turn On’ Share my Internet connection with other devices under Mobile hotspot.
   
4. The default network name and password will be available under Mobile hotspot.
   
5. Enter the same password on the device which you’re trying to connect and check the status of the issue.

If you’re referring to ‘File sharing’, I suggest you to refer the section ‘How do I troubleshoot sharing and folders’ from the article ‘File

Thank you for posting in Community, we understand your concern and we will try our best to help you resolve the issue.

I would suggest the following to resolve the issue you are faced with.

Method 1: Windows can't detect a computer on a Public network. To fix this problem, you can try changing the network location to Home or Work or try connecting to a network that already has a Home or Work network location.

Method 2:

If Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol is disabled on the network adapter. Windows uses the LLTD protocol to map computers and devices on a network. To enable LLTD, follow these steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start menu and select
  Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under
  Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
  
• 
  Right-click the network connection, and then click Properties.
  
• 
  Select the Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver and
  Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder check boxes, and then click
  OK.

Method 3: To turn on network discovery, follow these steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start menu and select
  Control Panel. In the search box, type network, click
  Network and Sharing Center, and then, in the left pane, click
  Change advanced sharing settings.
  
• 
  Click the drop down icon to expand the Home or Work network profile.
  
• 
  Click Turn on network discovery, and then click
  Save changes. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
