  1. Network latency/ping randomly goes up to 977ms

Randomly my ping will spike up to around 976-979 ms on Resource monitor. there doesn't seem to be any exact reason for this to happen so i'm confused.the problem can be temporarily fixed by unplugging my external wi-fi dongle Realtek 8812BU 802.11ac USB NIC or by restarting my PC. looking for a permanent fix for this though

    :)

  2. latency ping

Hello JOHNLEIBNITZER, I am Andrew an independent advisor. What did you ping to get this latency? Is your network wired or wireless?

Latency can come from MANY sources, even outside your house out of your control. The internet provider could have a busy network and cause this latency. We can do some a few things in your control to help but may not improve the latency if its out of your control.
46ms ping is not all that bad actually. For example, my home network is 48ms at this time when pinging google.com.

Open the command prompt and enter ping google.com check the results. To try to help you can type ipconfig /flushdns in the command. Unplug the power from the router and your ISPs modem to reboot them. Then ping google.com again.

If you see no improvement as I said it could very well be out of your control what is causing the latency.

    Take Care,

    Andrew

Network latency/ping randomly goes up to 977ms

    High Network Latency

Hi, I recently encountered a problem after upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10 on my laptop (HP Pavillion 14 i3).

The first ping packets have abnormally high latency and then the latency suddenly drops to within normal levels, this is on a local network and I've tested with several different access points.

I'ts almost as if the network adapter goes in to some kind of power saving mode and when traffic starts to flow it starts functioning normally.

This is causing trouble with network discovery tools that I use to discover layer 2 neighboring network devices.

    Any input would be appreciated.
