One of my computers keep connecting to the extender but it can not find the main hub provider. I followed instruction included in a Microsoft article but I have been unable to give priority to the main network.I started cmd as administrator and as per article I typed: "netsh wlan show profiles" and it showed three which included the main one as second. Then, again as per instructions, I tried to change the priority by: "netsh wlan set profileorder name=”the name of the network″ interface=”Wi-Fi” priority=1". Reply: There is no such wireless interface in the system. This is despite the fact th

Change Wireless Network Connection Priority Order in Windows 10

    Hello Denis, Network priority :)

The command in step 2 of Option Two should show your wireless networks listed in priority order. Top of the list is higher.

How do I set my network priority?

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

    I'm glad to help you.

Due to the different versions of Windows, the location of setting network priority permissions has also changed, and you can modify it by following the steps below.

    1. Go to Settings to modify the network adapter priority you need.

    • Use the Windows + I shortcut to open Windows Settings - Network & Internet - click Status on the left - click the Change Adapter Options button on the right.

    • Right-click on the NIC you want to reprioritize - select "Properties".

    • Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" in the list of NIC properties that pop up - click the "Properties" button.

    • Click the Advanced button in the General tab.

    • Uncheck "Automatic metric" - Manually specify the priority value of the current NIC in the "Interface metric".

Tip: The lower the interface metric value, the higher the network card or network priority; Conversely, the higher the value, the lower the priority.

After completing the configuration steps above, Windows 10 prioritizes network traffic based on the configuration that you manually changed. Any time you need to revert to Windows 10 automated decision-making, just enable automatic metric again.

    2. Use PowerShell to change the NIC priority.

    • Use the Windows + X shortcut keys to open the "shortcut menu" - select Open "Windows PowerShell (Administrator)"

    • Type the following command to list the NIC index numbers

    Network priority 8c698bf8-5946-4041-a246-7700c6c569bb?upload=true.png

    • Use the following command to configure the priority value of the specified NIC (index number), that is, directly configure the interface hop value:
    • The -InterfaceIndex parameter in the preceding command specifies the index number of a particular NIC, and -InterfaceMetric specifies the interface metric. The numbers 21 and 10 are the numbers in my example, following your network card numbers and the values that need to be modified.
    • After completing the configuration steps above, Windows 10 prioritizes network traffic based on the configuration that you manually changed.
    • Any time you need to revert to Windows 10 Automated Decision, you can revert to automatic hops by executing the following command in PowerShell:
If you need more help, please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards
