Windows 10: Network reset; still no access

Recently had a four day power outage. Although I managed to close down my desktop before the UPS ran out, now I no longer have workable internet access. Although network status shows traffic being sent and received, and settings show I am connected to a private network, I cannot access my OneDrive, my Microsoft account, or any web page through either Edge or Chrome. Outlook does not successfully send or receive, even though Outlook reports it has completed all send and receive tasks successfully. But when I start Outlook I do get a certificate error message I have received for several months from an account established on my web host. Intriguingly, Microsoft Mail seems to work fine, including linking and downloading attachments into my browser (in the same window where the circle is spinning endlessly for CNN or other web pages). I have tried Network Reset twice, with no success. I am posting this using WiFi on the same network, but if I try to connect via WiFi using my desktop, no WiFi network is detected.


Do I have any other option than to reset the machine?

One computer cannot access other network computers.


So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:

• Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
• Ran a bunch of network commands:
  • flushed DNS
  • registered dns
  • pinged and located the named computers successfully
• Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

 

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".
