    Network Sharing - 1607 -> 1703

    Hello all,

    I have a customer that is having issues with his network sharing. He has 2 laptops that he has setup for network sharing. Everything was functioning until today, which was when one of his laptops upgraded and installed the Creators Update. While on his 1607 computer, he cannot view/share anything with his 1703 computer. While on his 1703 computer, he is still able to view/share with his 1607 computer. My initial thoughts were that during the update, his computer was set to not share anything. I checked in his advanced network sharing options and everything was set correctly. Both laptops were also using the private network profile. I restarted the 1607 PC thinking that might help. Nothing has worked, so now I am asking the people of the internet for assistance.

    tl;dr: Win10 v1607 can't see Win10 v1703 for network sharing while 1703 can see 1607.

    Thank you in advance!

    P.S. If it makes a difference, 1607 is running Home while 1703 is running Pro.

    :)

    No Internet Local Area Connection Unidentified Network (error) after feature update to ver 1703

    No Internet Local Area Connection Unidentified Network (error) after feature update to ver 1703

    Is there anyway to block this and future update, all I want is security updates, nothing else.

    I just updated 3 old PCs Previously running Windows 10 Pro ver 1607 to 1703.

    Two went OK (except even when you turn off sharing during install, it still installs with no privacy and you must open every box and turn each off).

    On one PC I lost all internet and connection to internet, my home group / local network.

    Running Modem, Router, all Ethernet Cables, no WiFi on PC.

    I restored to previous windows 10 build (Windows 10 Pro 32 Bit Ver 1607) , internet worked fines. (Tired Update a few times, Tried many of things in article in reply below, had to go back every time).

    I have stopped updated via

    Windows key > "Services.MSC" > "Windows Update" > "Disabled" > "Stop" . Apply"

    But I suspect I will no longer get Windows Defend Updates or other Windows (Office or Other Microsoft) Security Patches / updates.

    Failed 1703 uis on

    PC is a Dell E521BSQTVC1 (Originally XP > Windows 7 Pro > Windows 10 > 1607, (all OK).

    Dell uses a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller

    (Seems to be the suspect). My other two PCs do not use this device.

    Error was/is:

    No Internet Local Area Connection Unidentified Network

    Error changes when I unplug Ethernet, so it appears to detect Ethernet connection and network, but for some reason error is that network is unidentified and thus no internet, no local network, no home group. It says it can not detect the Private NetWork.
    It detects a Public Network, but can't seem to route to internet or HomegGoup through that.

    Multiple Diagnoses says no problems detected.

    Also computer says I have the latest driver for the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. I tried most of the things in the article about losing networks (someone suggested below).

    Microsoft Case # XXXXXXXXX

    Can someone at Microsoft Fix 1703 so it can work with the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller (like ver 1607 does)?

    Network issues after updating to Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators)

    1703 definitely causes network issues for me. Lost all connectivity. On one computer, I've had to roll back to 1607 till something else is released. Tried going to 1703 four times now, but always the same result: all network connectivity is completely gone.
    No WIFI, no ETH. Windows can no longer find any adapters at all, either in the Networking dialog or in Device Manager. All fine under 1607, with both WIFI and ETH. 1703 has certainly broken something with networking. Stuck on 1607 till a fix comes out.

  4. Network Sharing - 1607 -> 1703

    Hi zach.

    While not likely the cause I would shut off router, wait twenty secs and restart. This is not likely the cause but it is easy and it has fixed weird networking issues in the past.

    Assuming this does not resolve I think I would delete the Homegroup and re-establish.

    Thanks for your help. When I remoted in yesterday, it wasn't giving me an option to create a Homegroup (I looked). However, when I remoted in today, the option was there. I configured it between the customer's laptops and it's working!
