Windows 10: Networking a Desktop and Laptop

I am having problems setting up the network on a new desktop computer, I cannot gain access to this and I wonder if it is going to the correct drive. On the new desktop I have 2 SSD's C: used for all programs and D: used for all my files, have actioned sharing on the D drive for Documents and Pictures but when attempting to access these on the laptop I am told 'access denied'On both computers in Settings, Network and Internet, all settings on private and public are set to on.Windows 11 is on both machines.Can anyone help on this problem

Laptop won't show list of available networks

We suggest checking the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your laptop.

Please follow these steps:

• Click the Windows logo.
• Go to Settings (gear icon).
• Select Network and Internet.
• Then Wi-Fi.
• Make sure the Wi-Fi radio button is On.
• Select Show available networks, then you'll be able to see the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

I'm online from my wifi laptop but can't connect to my home network

Nope, I've tried all the steps of all the fixes listed by Dalchina and Try3 but the problem still exists. The W10 laptop refuses to access my main W7 pc (named CG16) on my home network, although it can 'see' it, ie, it shows CG16 in the network list.
The only thing I haven't tried is Dalchina's suggestion about creating a shortcut, mainly because I'm not sure where this shortcut is supposed to be. I'm assuming it has to be on the W10 laptop but I don't understand how it could work. More info please, Dalchina, if you'd be so kind.

Win 10 laptop can't see a folder on desktop


Hi

My network is really simple. A win10 laptop and a win10 desktop. The desktop has a couple of hard drives and the laptop needs to see one of them.

At various times it's all been good but then something mysterious happens and we're back to square one.

So

• I've set up a homegroup and both computers belong to it
• I've set up sharing so that the homegroup can read/write
• I've added my husbands email address as a user on the desktop and accepted the invitation so that it doesn't show as pending

Yet, when I go to the laptop

• I can see the homegroup and the two computers that are in it
• I can see the network and the same two computers
• If I click on the drives I get a no-permission error

I've obviously missed a step somewhere and I've gone over tutorials and guides but can't work out what it is. Any ideas?
