Windows 10: Networking and File Sharing question

Hello, I've been trying to get file sharing working on my home network. I've got three PC's all running Windows 10 Home, all directly wired to the router. I've already changed the properties of the drives I want to share.

When I open File Explorer, and go to the network tab, sometimes the other PC's are listed, sometimes they are not. When they do decide to show up, and I try to open them, I'm prompted for a Username/Password. I've tried both the user/pass combo for the remote machine, as well as the local but it's always denied.

I really don't have a clue what else to do to get this working.

1. Which build version is installed on both the computers?
   
2. Are there any antivirus security software installed on the computer?
   
3. What is the error message you encounter while accessing the computer on network sharing?
   

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to check and confirm the status of few settings, services and features with respect to Network Sharing in Windows 10, to do that, please refer to the reply posted by ‘Roohi_Taj’
from this thread and check if that works for you.

Additional Information.

Block File sharing in Wifi network, Windows 10

Hi Lori,

As per the description, I understand that you want to block file sharing on your Wi-Fi network. I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Right click on Start and select Control Panel.
• Change the view type to Large Icons.
• Click on Network and Sharing center.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Advanced sharing center.
• In the right pane, under Files and printer sharing, select the option:
  Turn off file and printer sharing.
• Restart the system and check for status.

This issue might be due to Network Sharing not being enabled on your computer. I would suggest you to follow the thread on

Networking Sharing by Pauli O dated May 11, 2018. Kindly, follow the steps for 'Network Discovery and Share Settings', enable the appropriate services as explained in the thread, and check if it works for you.
