Since Homegroup was helpfully removed from Windows 10 I have been unable to see my network printer on another PC in the house and neither can I share files from either computer. Basically they cannot see each other and so even when all the right settings are made in printer settings, obviously you cannot print anything on the network.

As I dont see much on the forum relating to this problem I assume that either I am missing something that others know, or Microsoft have removed the possibility of sharing printers, files or connecting in any coherent way to another PC on a home network.

Anyone managed to do this successfully since Homegroup was removed?

Knowing Microsoft I suspect that they have removed this functionality but havent admitted to it yet, instead preferring to do their usual thing which is to give meaningless jargon filled answers in the support section designed to avoid admitting that it can no longer be done.

I might be wrong of course.

    :)

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
