    Networking Issues

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10, like most people. Since upgrading, my ethernet connection keeps dropping sometimes going to limited and other times disconnecting completely and all at random times. It was fine when on Windows 8.1 and fine when connected over WiFi, only ethernet is a problem.

The network card is a Realtek PCIE GBE Family Controller or according to the Hardware Id a Realtek RTL8168e.

I was running version 10 of the ethernet driver on first looking, which I think were installed by the manufacturers that installed it all, i downloaded a V8 driver (latest) from the Realtek site which made no difference. I also read somewhere that Windows 10 can shut the ethernet to sleep, so I have removed this option from the device.

I'm pretty lost what else to do and need some advise. I can't use Wifi all the time as some of our management software is blocked from the WIFI network purposely.

    Help!

    Many Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Remote connection to Windows 10 machine (after upgrade from W8) is terminated instantly

If all your accounts have passwords, the following worked for me:

Try setting power management on your NIC to always on.

Device Manager > Right click your NIC > Power Management.

  3. NETWORK ISSUES

I'm Greg, a volunteer installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

I'd focus on the Extender's Security settings to see if they're compatible.

I also solved coverage problems with my Linksys Extender by bridging it with the router to give a solid blanket to the house instead of two separate wireless sources.

If you are within one year (or can convince them of this) of purchase of the extender or router you can get Support to do this and also solve the connection problem. I buy Linksys because they're so good at this it saves me time.

Otherwise make sure the Security on the Extender is not what's blocking the PC as that's the usual suspect.

Referencing the Manuals for these can be also helpful, from their Support Downloads webpage.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
