Networking two windows computers within home network problem

I have 2 windows PC's. Both on a local network. Both linked to a Microsoft account. Both set up to use a PIN or Facial recognition to login to windows. All that works fine. What I am trying to do is locally access PC1 from PC2 and vice versa. This used to work just fine until about a week ago. I am not aware of any changes. Now I get a popup asking credentials. different issue is that windows does not retain log in credentials even when selecting to remember them I have the username but forgot the password. Both PC's have an admin account that is password protected and I can not for the li

  2. Networking problems! Help

the network number doesn't matter. Windows assigns it incrementally and it has no bearing on how the rest of your devices function on your network. It thought your network was a "different" network when you plugged the router back in. Your router assigns IP address and forwards DHCP calls not the individual computers.

It is funny that it would list local area connection assigned to two different "networks". Pull up a command prompt with administrator privileges for me and type Code: ipconfig /all[/quote] . Take a screenshot or tell me what is says (whichever is easiest for you)

  3. Help needed with simple wired network

Step one- Connect all PC's to router, and then the router to the modem. PC's go to router by the ports labeled "1-4" on the back of the router. WAN port goes to router. Power up all network equipment, and then systems.
Step two- Power on the computer connected to port one. Go into router settings at 192.168.0.1 and configure internet, dyndns, firewall, etc.
Step three- Go to "network set up wizard" in windows. (Network places- network set up wizard). The rest is self explanatory.
Step four- right click on each drive and printer you want to share, and then configure sharing preferences. Should be easy enough.
Step five- right click my computer, and the select "map network drive". Using the network address for each piece of hardware you shared, assign network drive letters.

Congratulations, you have a fully operational network. Happy Gaming! *Toast :toast:
