Windows 10: Networking via WiFi dongle no longer works after trying OpenSUSE, ?

Hi, I got an old HP i5 desktop running windows 10, basic, which wants too upgrade with a 6gb download to a newer version. I had it connected to a new WiFi dongle by Realtek. It detects and connects to my WiFi with a password. This computer I am using is in the same room, and connects fine, and is also Windows 10.

After I tried Gecko Live, and tried connecting to the net, it would not connect even though it had the detection of my router and the password. It is a derivative of OpenSUSE. Booting back into Windows 10, and now it no longer connects to the net. I am about to get an analyze wireless network report.

I want to fix it.

Dongle is working properly but showing no internet

Just to clarify, are you using a WiFi dongle to connect to the internet instead of the built in WiFi adapter of your device? Or are you using a desktop PC and is the WiFi dongle to connect to the internet? For now, what we can suggest is to follow all of

No new wifi dongles work on Windows 10

I've bought three different wifi dongles trying to get wifi on my windows 10 pc. I've tried pretty much everything there is to try and make them work. My old dongle is a WNDA3100 and no longer works. The defective dongles were all ac1200 usb 3.0 dongles
and my pc does have 3.0 ports, I was told our WGR614v9 router could make those work, I don't know. The last thing I want to do is factory reset my pc or anything of that ilk.

 

Ethernet won't connect fully to network, wifi dongle works instantly

My on board LAN port failed quite some time ago, so I bought a TP-Link (TG-3468) to replace it for my Gigabit Ethernet network, and it worked like a champ (at least a year, likely longer I just don't recall). Then a few weeks ago BOINC reported no Internet access (it claims to still have network access but can't actually access anything on the network and it reports the network as Unidentified, when before it reported the network properly), and after trying to diagnose the problem (Windows 7, all updates to date, drivers updated as best I can tell) and either getting "no vaild IP address results" or "cannot diagnose the problem" (after manually putting an IP address and information), I just figured the card failed and replaced it.

The new card was a Syba Gigabit card (SD-PEX24009), plugged it in (in a different PCI-Express slot, just to be on the safe side), it worked immediately, updated drivers, it still worked, figured I was all set. 3 weeks later (today), the same exact issue and problem.

My network setup is from the ISP supplied router (wireless +4 Gigabit ports) to an unmanaged gigabit switch, to the problem machine. Every other device on the network is currently working with no problems (unmanaged switch has 2 ip cameras, a set top box and a blue ray player all connecting to the Internet properly). When I plug in my emergency WiFi dongle to the problem machine, it connects immediately to the wifi network and has successful Internet/Network access.

I'm fairly stumped, the machine downloaded GTA V recently over the connection with no problems, and both times the problem has occurred has been overnight when only BOINC has been running. As mentioned both cards have been in different PCI-E slots (one above, one below the GPU). Temps overnight via Real Temp peak at ~70° C. Also I tried switching cables on the off chance the cable somehow failed.

So, any thoughts?
