  1. New accounts on Win 10 have shortcut to program on desktop which asks for msi installer

When I create a new account <Domain><User>on Win 10 I find I have a shortcut to a program <Program Name> on the desktop and an entry in the Programs menu , but when I click either of these Windows prompts me for the location of an installer, which it cannot find. The program may have been installed for all users from another account. The program shows in the list of installed programs shown by Control Panel-> Programs and Features, but there are no files in c:\Users\<AccountName>\Roaming\<Progam Name>, which generally appear after a program installation.

I cannot uninstall the program pointed to by the desktop shortcut as I do not have the file <Program Name>.msi and thus cannot install a new version of the program. How can I prevent this program from appearing on the desktop, the Programs menu and in the Installed programs list?

In the folder C:\Users\<Domain><User>\Desktop I do not see any shortcut to program<Program Name>. How does the shortcut appear when I log in as <Domain><User>?

    :)

New accounts on Win 10 have shortcut to program on desktop which asks for msi installer

    Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

    Keyboard shortcuts to open programs:

Create a shortcut on the desktop to whatever program you want. Right click -> Properties and fill in the field there. Sadly the shortcut needs to remain on the desktop, but you can hide it.

Fun fact: If you had keyboard shortcuts for programs pinned to your Windows 7 start menu, those shortcuts still work when you update to Windows 10.
