Windows 10: New build PC blue screening after trying to install legacy audio driver

I recently built a new PC with all brand new hardware. After not recieving audio from the motherboard. I have tried to install new audio drivers. Windows says the drivers are up to date but isnt regocnising any audio devices with any output. I have tried to revert back to legacy hardware for the audio but my PC then blue screens every time i try to do this. Does anyone know how I can get the audio to work on my PC or at least install something without it blue screeniong. Any other advice would be much appreciated as my PC seems to be having problem after problem. Specs. Ryzen 7700X CPUASUS Tuf

I understand that you get a Blue Screen error with “APC_INDEX_MISMATCH” when trying to install Audio drivers. I’ll certainly help you with this.



However, please let us know:

• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  

An incompatible system driver causes the Blue screen error APC_INDEX_MISMATCH. For more information see

I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

Troubleshoot blue screen errors and check if that helps.



However, I would also suggest you to share the dump files so that we can analyze them and get to the root cause of the issue. To share the files Navigate to
C:\Windows\Minidump, upload the files to OneDrive and share the OneDrive link.

PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval

• Install system in case
  • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
• Turn on PC
• setup HDD
• run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
  • run realtemp at the same time

• While in Prime95 test
  • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
  • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
  • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!

What do you guys think??

Thank you for replying.

I apologize for the delayed response.

We can try to use an alternate audio driver and see if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows Logo key + X, and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers.
   
3. Right click on Realtek Audio and select
   Update Driver.
   
4. Select Browse my computer for Driver Software.
   
5. In the next screen, select Let me pick from a list of available drivers.
   
6. Check the box Show Compatible Hardware and select
   High Definition Audio Device.
   
7. Click on Yes if you get any prompt.
   

If you do not see any change, you can use Update Driver option and Search automatically to revert to Realtek driver.

In case you receive any Blue Screen error, please share the minidump files with us.

Let us know the results.
