    Hello,
In the new computer are 2 disks, size 1TB each.
One for the system, the other for data.
Now on all my computers I had, the system was located on a separate partition (C) and the rest (D) was for portable programs and some data.
Some technician advice me not to partition the disk, so the system and all the rest will be on the same partition (whole disk). I was thinking to make a 200 GB partition for the system (win 10 pro) and maybe Office, and the rest (D) for the portables and data.
I would like to have your opinion about this.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    :)

  2. I'm having trouble signing into my Microsoft account. It says I'm putting in wrong password

    >>I'm tried to sign in to my account. It says I have wrong password. Tried to reset. I get the first code I'm sent through email. I put it in. Then it says they will text a code to the phone number on file. I must have entered my home phone number
when I set up the account, and can't get the text on it. It shows the last two digits of it and ask for the last four including the last two which it shows. What can I do? I'm frozen out of my account for now.

I think someone from Microsoft will be the only ones to help.

    Thanks for any help

What you are doing is correct. Keep Windows partition small, keep data separated, easier/faster to backup/restore.
Most small programs can be made portable by just unzip them (use 7-zip) instead of running the installer.

I have 4 x 1TB Crucial SSD's, and I haven't partitioned anything. After installing Windows, Asus application's, Gigabyte software, Norton Antivirus, Doom, Resident Evil 6 and finally Windows Update, I had around 220GB used space. I don't recommend partitioning Windows itself because you never know how much space you will need in the future. In the end, it depend's on what are you exactly going to use the computer for.

Always, always keep personal data off C: as far as you can.

Why? Any major maintenance on C: such as restoring a disk image (you have created a disk image and intend to maintain a disk image set, haven't you? E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) ) or a clean install of the OS will overwrite the data on C: replacing it with older data or removing it entirely.

Since you have 2 1TB drives you could make C 500Gb, which is way way more then you`ll ever need (in my opinion). You can do your partitioning after the install with Partition Wizard.
