Windows 10: New files do not get put in the right sorting order

New files do not get put in the right sorted place when newly addedHey all,Its a minor gripe with windows 11, but I was wondering if somebody else noticed this "Issue".Whenever I, lets say, open a picture in photos with the name "test1.jpg" with the explorer view in the background. Then I see it added to the folder, but it is put automatically at the end even though I have sorted the folder it by for example name or Date modified. ​so It looks like this:​test1.jpgfile1file2test2.jpg​but it should be​test2.jpgtest1.jpgfile1file2​I need to r

Let me assist you on your issue regarding Windows 10.

"it takes a LONG time for the software to rescan the folder and re-order", which software are you using to rescan and re-order the folder?

You may follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Open the drop box folder in file explorer which needs to be sorted.

2. Click on the view tab in the file ribbon.

3. Now select the sort by option.

4. Select the "date created" option and also select descending order.

5. By select these two options the most recent(new) files will be displayed in the top separated by most recent(new) folders.

Note: The above steps are for drop box folder only, if you want to sort the other folder similarly please follow the above steps.

Sorting excel files in a folder

Previously all my files were in alphabetical order. We did some type of upgrade and now the original ones are in alpha order, but any new files are listed above them and not in alphabetical order. I have tried clicking on the name and it does not sort
them alphabetically. I have tried right clicking and saying sort by alpha and ascending, but this does not work either. Help!

 

How do I sort favorites in alphabetical order?

Unfortunately, your suggestion does not work. My favorites are listed under "Other" in Edge. When you click on the 3 dots and choose Favorites - Manage Favorites, you are not able to get to right click an empty space beside the list of favorites and choose
"Sort By Name".
