  1. New Hard Drive and Windows Home Edition and computer still messed up.

So my computer died a month ago and I decided that maybe I had to update stuff. The power supply wasn't working so I replaced it. It was also doing a combination of stuff and I asked the Windows tech support on the phone and my tech savvy friends say it could be a hard drive issue; so I bought a new Barracuda 1TB hard drive.

There are a lot of things that have happened all at once and I don't know enough about computers to find the problem. So lemmie list the issues since they all happened at once.

    1. Every time I would reinstall Windows and do the updates, my computer goes bonkers, I do have the updated Nvidia drivers I need for things to work perfectly fine. It will randomly restart either at log in just after I type in password or my pin number, or... it will restart itself after I open up Internet Explorer to download the things I want for my computer like another browser, Discord, WoW, etc.

    2. When it does a random reboot, it sometimes hangs up on me. The tower will still be on the button is acting as if it was pressed and I hear the beep of the BIOS turning on but my Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor will not be active in the slightest. Or if I turn it on from shutting it down.

    3. It would restart after I told it to shut down after update; it would do the Restart Lock Up Number 2 if I told it to update and restart.

    4. I only got one BSOD out of it with the error message of "Video_TDR_Error" but I haven't seen it since; I'm not overclocking my computer nor am I pushing it too hard.

    5. It works fine if I just hang out on the BIOS menu, no restarts, no weird hang-ups.

6 Sometimes the BIOS screen would come by real fast, or sometimes the computer will boot up at a relatively sane rate.

    7. This is a brand spanking new Windows and Hard Drive, both from Newegg.

    8. Computer will also freeze and/or restart even looking at Settings or Control Panel

    Stats as follows with pics:

I'm at my wits end here, I really need help, not even my super techie friend knows what the deal is since the things I bought that are new Windows Install USB and the Hard Drive shouldn't be making this issue.

My theory an uneducated one would be Graphics Card or Ram is acting up.

    :)

  2. How to Partiton a Hard Drive in Vista

This is a way to get Vista to see another hard drive that is not associated with the OS. There is some times when your new hdd doesn't seem to want to work well with Vista. But, there is a solution in it.

Open the Computer Management By doing these steps.
    • Click on the Start Button
    • Click on Control Panel
    • Click Administrative Tools
    • Double click on Computer Management
You are now in the Navigation panel of the Computer Management.
When in Computer Management, you then have to allow the new drive to be recognized.
    • Double click on Storage
    • Double click on Disk Management
Now in the middle of your screen there is the layout of the Disk Drives that you have. The drives that are partitioned will show by the drive lettering. The others will just show up as having nothing at all in them. Below that there will be the Disk drives that are installed into the computer. You'll see that the primary one will all ways read as "Disk 0". Then you will have Disk 1 and so on. Under the Disks there will also see your CD-Rom drives.. If there is more then one, it will be labeled the same as Disk drives..

On to the Partitioning of the drive in question.
    • Right Click on the drive
    • Click to format the drive or Enable Volume. There will be a series of windows that open up. This is Vista's formatting. Just go threw the windows, and make sure everything is the way you want it to happen.
    • Once the formatting is done, will take some time depending on the drive size.
    • Right click on the drive
    • Click on Mark the Partition as Active
After you have done those steps, The drive will be up and running threw Vista.

    :Side Notes:
If you are not the Administer to the Os, then you will have to enable it..
You may also want to redo the drive lettering of it all. But, I really don't see a reason to do so. If you do, you have to redo drive paths and so forth.. A lot of work on something so small...

  4. New Hard Drive and Windows Home Edition and computer still messed up.

Is technician's installation of Windows 7 Ultimate on new hard drive preventing installation of Windows 10 Home edition?

I am a foreign national, living in India.

I want to install the Windows 10 64-bit Home Edition operating system on a new hard drive in a Dell Inspiron desktop with a 64-bit processor and 4 GB RAM.

Last year, Microsoft replaced the Windows 7 Home Premium edition on the old hard drive and installed Windows 10 Home edition.

I have read in more than one place that, to install Windows 10 on my new hard drive, I must first install Windows 7—and then install Windows 10.

I still have the installation disk from Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

I successfully downloaded the Windows 10 64-bit edition onto a memory stick—using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool.

Although I cannot confirm this definitely, it is fairly clear that Microsoft required that I choose between a 32- or 64-bit edition of Windows 10—but not between the Home or Professional editions—when I downloaded Windows 10 from
    their website.

I do not know how to install the operating system, and I recently paid a computer technician here to install and uninstall Windows 7—and to then install Windows 10 on the new hard drive.

(Although the man is “self-trained” and unfamiliar with Windows 10, I have never had any problem with his work in the past.)

Contrary to my request at the beginning, the technician installed Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate edition on the new hard drive—from his own installation disk.

When I questioned him, he stated that this would not cause any problem.

However, when he then went to install Windows 10 Home edition
from my memory stick onto the new hard drive, he could not complete the process

A message popped up, stating that he was trying to install Windows 10 Professional edition—and the installation was terminated.

My guess is that his installation of Windows 7 Ultimate edition on the new hard drive is the cause of the problem.

Obviously, the way to find out if this is true is to have him uninstall the Windows 7 Ultimate edition that he installed on the new hard disk and to then install the Windows 7 Home Premium edition from my installation disk.

However, this is going to require a considerable amount of his time—and considerable expense for me if I am mistaken about the cause of the problem. (And I will still not have identified the cause of the problem.)

If his installation of Windows 7 Ultimate —contrary to my request at the beginning—is the cause of the problem, I should not have to pay him to correct his error.

So, if possible, can you tell me—with a reasonable degree of certainty—whether his installation of the Widows 7 Ultimate edition on the new hard drive is the reason the message subsequently popped up stating that he was trying
to install Windows 10 Professional—and the installation was terminated?
