  1. New HDD with Windows not booting

I installed windows on my new hdd (because current is starting to fail). But when i have only that drive connected it just skips it and starts PXE over ipv4. Is there anything i need to do to make it bootable?
PS. I had to install it on legacy support

    :)

    Windows 10 Change partition

So, when I couldn't acces to my PC anymore , I installed Windows on the HDD to have any Kind of Access to Windows.

But know he is booting the HDD with the new installed Windows Version. I want that my pc boots up the SSD though.

Because all my apps etc. got messed up because it's booting the HDD i think.

Like you can see on the right Picture "Local drive (CNew HDD with Windows not booting :) is the HDD which was on the D: drive" and which is getting booted.

Windows(DNew HDD with Windows not booting :) was on the C: drive and I want that it boots Windows from the SSD not HDD because I have all my Documents etc on it.

so ( Boot the SSD where the old Windows Version is installed -> check if it's not damaged , if I can't Access to it, boot the HDD where the new Windows Version is installed, take it from there put it to the SSD, delete it from the HDD and boot the SSD with
the copied Windows Version from the HDD)

I hope this is kinda understandable ,...

New HDD with Windows not booting

What about the boot sequence in the bios/ UEFI, on what rank is the new HDD? What happens if you disable boot over LAN in the bios/ UEFI?

Ah. To me it looks like the boot sector was written on the wrong HDD, apparently there is no boot sector on your current HDD. Here you'll find some info. I have never had to repair a Windows 10 boot sector but I believe like in every Windows since Vista there should be a graphical repair mode when you boot from the installation media.

Another solution would be to reinstall Windows 10. It depends on how much programs are already installed. If your system is more or less newly installed it might be less work to simply reinstall it. But if you have already installed a lot and/ or tweaked you os and you don't want to install everything again it could be worth it to go through the repair procedure.

Ok, but it boots? If the system was installed in legacy (bios) mode using MBR partitions it must be booted in legacy mode. In order to boot it in UEFI mode the os should have been installed in UEFI mode. Booting an os works differently in legacy mode compared to the newer UEFI mode.

If your system/BIOS can boot UEFI then you just need to format your USB stick properly to boot from in UEFI mode - often using FAT32 format when you create the bootable USB works for that but I don't necessarily understand your specific BIOS' requirements.

That's true, according to UEFI specs an USB stick has to be formatted with FAT32 in order to be bootable.

LordMustachio - I'm assuming your Win10 install is on a bootable USB flash drive - if so, how did you create that?

    Brink's tutorial here:
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...dows-10-a.html
gives guidance on that. I had followed Option 1 which gave me UEFI bootable USB flash drives and they have FAT32 format. In Option 2, employing Rufus, you can take Step 6 or Step 7 to give you bootable USB to use with either UEFI or Legacy BIOS, respectively. In Option 2, Step 6, mind that Brink instructs you disable Secure boot and Fast Boot for doing the install.
