    New HP Notebook Keyboard keys different Characters


    My HP Notebook 15 AC 115TU, set to English US types some characters incorrectly - Such as :::- Lowercase "o" is pushed to end of typing row.- Lowercase "l" goes to Blank Page.- Capital "O" is moved to end of Row and "9" is added to the Left of "o"This is a new Keyboard from China.Help is needed.Thank YouOwen Carlton

    How do you troubleshoot a notebook keyboard that only clicks

    How do you troubleshoot a notebook keyboard?

    There are many open applications and rebooting was not yet performed.

    All keys make clicking noises but none display characters.

    The function key with F9 will increase and F10 decrease the display brightness.

    The mouse works without problems.

    There are other notebooks available but no external keyboard.

    What trobleshooting steps are available that would not require a reboot?

    The HP hardware diagnostics was launched and none of the keys register, not even the function and F9 and F10 keys. So the HP hardware diagnostics is not able to detect some of the working function keys. Another troubleshooting option is needed.

    Hi

    HP Compaq CQ58 Notebook keyboard keys are sowing wrong information.

    eg. Shift + " enters @symbol.

    Shift + @ enters " symbol.

    Backslash key enters #symbol.

    Any help to fix would be appreciated.

    Hi Jay, my name is Max and I'm an independent advisor.

    I suggest you check if your keyboard is faulty. Connect the keyboard to a different USB port (if it is a USB keyboard) or a different computer.

    If your keyboard is not a culprit, perform the steps below to disable Num Lock:

    - Go to the Start menu to find On-Screen Keyboard, open the On-Screen Keyboard and check if characters are doubled when typing

    - If the characters are doubled when typing, type a character to check if the Fn + Num Lock keys are highlighted while typing

    - If yes, press Fn + Num Lock keys together on the keyboard to disable the active Num Lock and check if it helps.

    If Num Lock key is active, it results in characters being typed twice.
