New behavior in Windows 10 20H2 - TV connected via HDMI cable severely tears, wriggles wildly, is much smaller than the TV screen, and is basically unwatchable. Worked in 2004. Works on the same machine now in Linux Mint 19.3 though switching has to be done manually in Linux, and it only duplicates the laptop screen so there's a problem with screen size overscanning the TV. So it's not a hardware failure.

Target display: Panasonic plasma TV c.2009, 46", 1920x1080 capable.

Computer: ASUS U52F laptop yes, it's old, 4GB RAM, 480GB SSD shared with LInux Window gets about 2/3 of it. Laptop display 1366x720.

    Windows 10 20H2 auto-upgraded early November 2020.

Windows has always automatically adjusted to using the TV for both picture and sound when the HDMI cable is plugged in. Worked fine up through 2004. Since the 20H2 update it has not: the TV screen is unwatchable though the sound still works fine. The laptop is admittedly old, but still functional, and the drivers all report up to date Intel graphics and Realtek sound.

    Bug introduced in 20H2?

Why exactly is ATi considered be better at HDMI?

I plug my HDMI cable into the card, then into my TV. Those are the steps that I have to do. All the steps you list make absolutely no sense to me.

    Win10 screen tearing

Hello everyone. A few days ago i have updated my videocard from gtx 650ti to gtx 760, but now with gtx 760 i have a screen tearing. Only in fullscreen or without VSYNC. There was no screen tearing with my gtx650 ti ( was connected by vga, gtx 760 connected
by HDMI, that`s can be a problem? ) I have tried everything, new drivers, windows reinstall, adaptive vsync ( cant use vsync because i am playing overwatch, vsync + overwatch = input lag ) How can i fix this?

    Specs:

    Core i7 2600k 3.4ghz ( not overclocked )

    Gtx 760

    16gb ram

    2tb hdd WD

    450wat power supply <---- maybe that`s a actuall problem?

screen tearing in dual monitor setup dvi+hdmi

Are you sure that it is your hardware that is doing it? Could you be watching interlaced video with poor deinterlacing which could give you a jittery screen. Personally, I use Media Player Classic with these settings and it works pretty well. I'm also using dual monitors, one HDMI (DVI to HDMI adapter since I'm low on HDMI cables, the HDMI cable just gives me audio, I don't notice anything else with it) and one DVI. I don't think I've ever noticed tearing on a video before.
