Windows 10: ‚New Input method selection‘ prevents touch calibration.

Since an Windows Update a couple of weeks ago a ‘Input method selection menu‘ appears during touch calibration (see screenshot)



The problem is that when the (uncalibrated) touch point is in the area of this menu, this menu opens on calibration and there is no way to continue the calibration.



How can I disable the ‘Input method selection menu‘ ? It doesn’t make sense anyway here because for touch calibration the input method is completely irrelevant…

We're now suspecting the driver installed for your Touchscreen device. Please follow these two methods and see if any of them will work:

Disable and enable the touchscreen driver

Note:
You'll need a keyboard or mouse connected to your device.

• Go to Device Manager by searching it using Cortana.
• Select the arrow to the left of Human Interface Devices to unfold it.
• Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
  Disable.
• Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
  Enable.
  
  Note: There may be more than one HID-compliant touch screen listed. If so, complete steps 3-4 for each one.
  
• 
  
  Restart the PC if prompted in each device driver.
  

If disabling and re-enabling the driver did not work, try to Reset touchscreen calibration: Go to the
Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input screen, and press
Reset button.

 

Windows 10- Touch Input works only on the login screen but it doesn't work when logged in

This could be an issue with the calibration of your touch input. To isolate the issue,
kindly provide us these details:

• Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?
• Have you installed the latest Windows updates?
• How did you update your driver? Did you go to Device Manager or did you update it from your device manufacturer’s website?

In the meantime, we’ll suggest that you try to recalibrate your touch input. Here’s how:

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Click on Hardware and Sound.

3. Under "Tablet PC Settings," click the Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input link.

4. Under "Display options," select the display (if applicable).

Quick Tip: Under "Details," you can tell whether your screen has full support for pen and touch with Windows 10

5. Click the Calibrate button.

6. Select the Touch input option.

7. In the white screen, tap the crosshair each time that is appears on the screen, and do not change the resolution during this process.

8. After the calibration process concludes, you'll be given the choice to save the calibration data.

After doing the said steps, restart your computer and check if issue reoccurs.

How to launch tablet Pc touch input from command line

Hello,

From versions of Windows 7 and above it is possible to automatically launch Touchscreen calibration using Tabcal.exe.

I was wondering if there is a similar command to directly launch touch input instead of following inf the steps below:

• Go to Control Panel and search for "Touch".
• Click "Tablet PC Settings"
• Click "Setup..." to the right of "Configure your pen and touch displays"
• Choose "Touch Input..."
