    New install of Windows 10 keeps booting into old install.


    I just did a clean install of windows onto an NVME m.2 drive for my desktop computer. It has 2 m.2 slots, and the second disk has an old install of windows from when it was in another machine. I didn't wipe that drive before filling it with data, and now I'm wondering if that was a mistake....


    If I don't select the new drive as the boot drive from my mobo's boot screen, it always boots into the old OS. And then, if I restart, the new drive doesn't even show up as a boot option in the BIOS..


    I'd like to keep the old OS around, as an emergency boot option, but maybe that's not possible with UEFI?


    I tried renaming the windows folder on the old drive, but that just causes the computer to go into repair mode every time, so I obviously can't just delete the OS files on the old drive and leav it at that.


    I assume I need to change something in the UEFI, but I have no idea how to do that.


    I'd rather not wipe the old drive, as it has more than a terabyte of data on it.... but if it will save me problems down the line I'll do it. And I'd like both OS's to be bootable, but if I have to choose every time, I'd rather not.

    Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

    I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

    could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
